Farm Update: SATURDAYS & STRAWBERRIES Are Coming!
Yippee... we are back to Saturday you-pick hours now that some of our family health issues are resolved! That's a big "Amen" and a breath of relief if any of you have been following us.
Our next big news is we are growing strawberries now! We decided that it didn't make sense to have an Alden Strawberry Fest every Father's Day weekend without any strawberries grown in Alden! So we decided to become strawberry farmers too... kinda : ) So we put in over 500 strawberry plants to have a go of it! This next June '25 we will be boasting some large Jewel berries for the Strawberry Festival! And we will be trying to see if we can manage a strawberry you-pick too? We'll see, no promises, but we thought that sounded fun!
Our store has some new items for you to enjoy: Plum Deluxe hand blended herbal ice teas! And we also sell their sweet Mason Jar Brew Kit as well. They include: a quart jar, a pour handle pitcher cap, a removable strainer for infusing loose leaf teas, and an additional stainless steel cap for storage use. My favorite tea has blue pea flower in it that turns the tea a beautiful Torch blue! These teas are refreshing in the summer heat, quick and easy to brew for guests (or on the go), and they're caffeine and sugar free! Cherry Limeade is a great choice too!
We have some beautiful classic wooden personal fans. They are laser cut fans to fan yourself in the summer heat or to give as small gifts as favors to your bridesmaids or granddaughter. I'm tucking one into my purse to have when needed and going to give one as a gift this weekend.
Calling all turtle hunters and young adventurers....we have small turtles to give away as prizes to the kiddos who can spy our large turtle hidden in the field! The hunt for the turtle is on... so ask if you have turtle hunters in your bunch. And we will set you out on your hunt.
Did you see our wedding arbor yet? It's at the top of our arborvitae alley where our blue bench is located. You're welcome to take a hike up to the arbor and check it out and take in the field.
A lot of people have been asking about our farm sign situation. Our farm signs were unfortunately stolen at the end of the '22 season. So we waited to try to recover them and have not heard from local law enforcement or any tips on their wear-a-bouts. In the meantime, we made makeshift signs and we are hoping to get new ones up this summer still! Our Saturday hours will be added to those new signs. If anyone would like to drive up after hours and visit the field we do have brochures that can be picked up on the current sign post with our corrected full hours and details listed on them to take with you.
Our after hours self-serve "Flower Cupboard" is open hit or miss. The last few years it has been under utilized so we have given it a little rest this year. There were two bouquets in it as of yesterday. If you would like to see it open regularly let us know... you can text or call us too! And when you do let us know what day you would most likely plan to visit the cupboard. We are here to serve your flower needs in a convenient way.
We desire to be a unique and beautiful spot to gather in our community with friends and loved ones over flowers. Thanks for supporting us and we hope to see you again soon.
Happy August flower friends!
